Quick start

From an empty project to delivered data. If you are the first Admin of a new workspace, start with Setting up a new workspace (Admins).

Before you start

You need the Editor, Approver or Manager role in a project to add areas and create orders, and someone with Approver or Manager in the same project (possibly you) to approve.

1. Select your project

Choose your project in the sidebar's Project switcher. Areas, orders and uploads are created in the selected project, so All projects will not do. If it shows No Projects, see The project switcher.

2. Add an area

On Overview, select Add Area, then draw a Point, Polygon or Box, import a file, pick features with Add WFS / ArcGIS service, or show an area from another project with Bring in an existing area. See Create areas and Import and export areas.

3. Create the order

Select New Order and name it. The order opens as a Draft and saves automatically. See Create an order.

4. Add deliverables

Select Add Deliverable and choose:

  • the product: Imagery or DEM
  • the source: Archival (existing captures), Area Tasking or Point Tasking (new captures; Point Tasking is Imagery only)
  • the areas: only areas in the order's project are offered
  • the parameters and processing level.

A tasking schedule with several captures creates one deliverable per capture, each with its own status and price. Select Continue when done.

5. Review and submit

On Step 2 Review & Submit, check the Billing account and Data format (the workspace defaults; the data format applies to the whole order), add Notes for our ops team and submit. An order with any Premium deliverable goes to Pending Feasibility Review; an all-Rush order is priced instantly. See Submit and approve an order.

6. Wait for the quote

The orders list shows Under Review. You cannot edit, cancel or delete the order at this stage; contact Terrabit if something needs to change. Once Terrabit accepts it, it moves to Pending Approval and the project's Approvers and Managers are notified. Terrabit may instead cancel it with a reason.

7. Approve the order

A project Approver or Manager (a workspace Admin only if they hold one of those roles in the project):

  1. On Orders, select Review and check the quote and the date it is valid until.
  2. Choose a Payment Method. For Credit, also choose a credit deposit that covers the order.
  3. Accept the Terms & Conditions and select Accept Order.

The order becomes Active. An expired quote cannot be accepted: select Request Amendment or Cancel Order.

8. Track delivery and use your data

An Archival deliverable starts at In Progress; a new capture moves from Planned through Tasking and In Progress. Both end at Delivered, and the order becomes Completed once every deliverable that is not cancelled is delivered. See Track and cancel orders.

  • View: Data Catalog in the sidebar. See Data Catalog.
  • Download: View downloads on a capture in the Data Catalog, or Downloads on a deliverable in the order. See Deliverables.
  • Use in GIS: if Terrabit has enabled map tiles, Connect to GIS on a capture, with an API key from a workspace Admin. See the Albatross Tiles API.

Setting up a new workspace (Admins)

A new workspace has a project called Main with nobody in it, a default data format called Standard and no billing account. Before anyone orders:

  1. Accept your invitation. See Your account.
  2. Add yourself to Main, because an Admin sees none of a project's work until they are a member: Settings > Projects > Main > Add Member. Choose Approver or Manager if you also want to approve orders.
  3. Create a billing account under Settings > Billing Accounts. No order can be submitted without one, and the first becomes the default. See Billing.
  4. Add data formats under Settings > Data Formats only if Standard is not enough. See Data formats.
  5. Create projects under Settings > Projects > Create Project, or use Main, and set each project's Role on arrival. See Projects.
  6. Invite people under Settings > Users > Invite People. See Members and invitations.
  7. Put people in projects. Joining a workspace gives access to no project. Add each person from the project's member list (even before they accept), or give a team default projects. See Teams.
  8. Ask your Terrabit account manager to enable control data or map tiles (needed for API keys and GIS), and for credits, payment methods or workspace name, description and logo changes.
tip

To check the setup, select Main in the project switcher: you should see the Overview map, with New Order enabled if your role in Main is Editor, Approver or Manager.
