How Albatross is organised
The building blocks
The Introduction defines each building block. These are the rules that shape what you can do.
Workspaces
Terrabit creates workspaces; customers cannot. You hold one workspace role in each workspace you belong to: Admin, Member or Viewer.
Projects
- Every project is invite-only. A project Manager or workspace Admin adds you, directly or through your invitation, or a team you join adds you to its default projects. You cannot find or join one yourself.
- You see only the projects you are in. Your project role (Viewer, Editor, Approver or Manager) decides what you can do there.
See Projects and Roles and permissions.
Teams
A team owns nothing and grants no access by itself. Anyone added to it joins its default projects at each project's Role on arrival. See Teams.
Areas, orders and data
| Item | Rule |
|---|---|
| Area | Has one home project and can be shown in other projects without being copied. |
| Area group | Each area sits in at most one group of its home project. |
| Order | Can cover only areas in the order's project. |
| Control data | Shown only when Terrabit enables it. |
Workspace settings
These belong to the whole workspace, not a project:
| Setting | Managed by | Visible to |
|---|---|---|
| Billing accounts, data formats | Workspace Admins | Everyone |
| Credits | Terrabit | Everyone |
| API keys, tile usage | Workspace Admins | Workspace Admins |
See Billing, Data formats and API keys.
Finding your way around
The Workspaces page
You land here after signing in, except that the first time it opens in a browser tab, Albatross takes you straight to the Overview of the workspace you last opened in that browser. Return to it with See Workspaces in the workspace switcher.
Invitations waiting for you are listed at the top under Invitations (see Accept from the Workspaces page). No workspace memberships means you have not been added to any workspace yet.
The sidebar
| Sidebar item | What it does |
|---|---|
| Collapse / Expand | Shrinks the sidebar to icons. Shortcut: Cmd+B (Mac) or Ctrl+B (Windows and Linux). |
| Workspace switcher | Switches workspace, or See Workspaces returns to the Workspaces page. |
| Project switcher | See The project switcher. |
| New Order | Starts an order in the selected project. See Create an order. |
| Notifications | A dot means unread items. See Notifications. |
| Overview | Map of your areas, coloured by the status of the deliverables over them. See Create areas. |
| Orders | See Track and cancel orders. |
| Control Data | Appears only when Terrabit enables control data. See Control data. |
| Data Catalog | Delivered map layers, capture comparison and downloads. See Data Catalog. |
| Account menu (your name) | Account and Log out. |
| Settings | See Settings. |
| Support | How to reach Terrabit. See Contact support. |
The project switcher
The switcher under Project decides what Overview, Orders, Control Data and Data Catalog show. Choose one project, or All projects to browse everything you are a member of. Manage projects opens the projects list in settings.
With All projects selected (the switcher reads View All) you cannot create anything: select a single project to create areas, orders or uploads. Your selection is remembered per workspace in this browser, and returns to All projects if you are removed from the selected project.
No Projects means you are not a member of any project in this workspace. This is normal straight after joining, Admins included: workspace membership alone gives access to no project. Ask a project Manager or workspace Admin to add you, or, as a workspace Member or Admin, create one from Manage Projects.
Settings
| Group | Pages |
|---|---|
| Workspace | Workspace, Users, Teams, Projects, Data Formats, API Keys |
| Billing | Tile Usage, Credits, Billing Accounts |
| User | Account, Notifications, Sessions |
Every page is listed for everyone; a page or control you cannot use says who can. The User pages are personal. The Workspace page is read-only for customers, Admins included: contact your Terrabit account manager to change the workspace name, description or logo.
