Control data
Control data is files you upload to a project for Terrabit to collect. A file belongs to one project, not to an order. Find it in the sidebar under Acquisition > Control Data.
Control data is a hand-over to Terrabit, not a way to share files with colleagues. Upload only order-related control data. Files are removed from storage after Terrabit retrieves them.
Before you start
Terrabit enables control data uploads per workspace. Without it, Control Data is missing from the sidebar and there is no Upload button, though earlier files can still be managed. Contact your Terrabit account manager to enable it.
Who can do this
| Role | See files | Upload, rename, move, delete |
|---|---|---|
| Project Viewer | Yes | No |
| Project Editor, Approver or Manager | Yes | Yes |
| Workspace Viewer | Yes | No, whatever their project role |
| Workspace Admin | Only as a project member | Only as a project Editor, Approver or Manager |
Nobody in your workspace can download an uploaded file, the uploader included. Keep your own copy.
Find control data
Pick a project from the PROJECT chips, or All Projects to see files from every project you are in. You cannot upload in All Projects.
Upload files
Select a project, then Upload, or drag files onto the table. A file appears in the list once its upload finishes.
| Limit | Value |
|---|---|
| Files per batch | 100 |
| File size | Up to 100 GB |
| Filename | 1 to 255 characters, unique within the project |
| File types | Any |
An upload with a name already in the project is refused. Rename your local file, or delete the existing one (a RETRIEVED file cannot be deleted).
Upload panel
Three files upload at a time; the rest wait. A failed upload shows its reason, such as a duplicate name or the size limit.
Uploads run in your browser tab. Closing or reloading it cancels running uploads, and they do not resume.
Rename a file
Open the file's menu and select Rename. The name must be unique in the project.
Move a file to another project
Open the file's menu and select Move to project. You need Editor, Approver or Manager in both projects, and the target must not already hold a file with the same name.
Delete a file
Open the file's menu and select Delete. This cannot be undone. Deleting a project also deletes its control data.
After Terrabit retrieves a file
The file is removed from storage and its record stays with a RETRIEVED badge as proof of upload. It can no longer be renamed, moved or deleted. You are not notified.
Notifications
Terrabit is notified of every finished upload. For who else is, see Notifications.
