Data Catalog
The Data Catalog shows every delivered map layer over the areas in your projects on one map. Open it from the sidebar under Viewing, then pick a project or All projects in the project switcher. Switching project resets the filters, visible layers and Compare.
Any project role can see it. A workspace Admin sees a project's data only after adding themselves to the project. See Roles and permissions.
What the Data Catalog lists
The tree is Area (in the project, or linked into it) > Capture (one deliverable, named by its capture period, newest first) > Map layer (such as RGB or DTM). Capture dates are the local date at the area the source data was captured, or the deliverable's creation date if that is not recorded.
A capture is listed whatever its status, as long as it has at least one map layer. It is not listed when:
- its area is not in any of your projects, so you reach it only through its order (see Deliverables)
- it has only downloadable files
- its area has been deleted
An area linked from another project shows a small home-project chip. See Projects.
Map layer types
Each capture holds at most one layer of each type.
| Layer | What it is | How the map draws it |
|---|---|---|
| RGB | True colour imagery | As delivered |
| CIR | Colour infrared imagery | As delivered |
| PMS | Multispectral, pansharpened | As delivered |
| PAN | Panchromatic greyscale | Contrast-stretched grey |
| DTM | Bare earth elevation | Tinted relief with hillshade and a colour scale |
| DSM | Elevation including buildings and vegetation | Tinted relief with hillshade and a colour scale |
| RAS | Analytics raster | One or two bands: Turbo colour ramp with a colour scale. Three or more: colour composite of the first three |
| VEC | Analytics vector | Features. Click one to see its attributes (up to 10 when they overlap) |
| Unclassified | A layer without a type | As delivered |
Styles are fixed: there are no opacity, styling or pixel value tools. Right-click the map to Copy coordinates.
Turn layers on and off
- Click a capture row to turn on its default layer (the first available of RGB, PMS, CIR, PAN, DSM, DTM, RAS, VEC). Click again to turn off all its layers.
- Expand a capture to tick individual layers. Layers from any number of captures draw together.
- Clear turns everything off.
- Hover a capture for Zoom to extent and View downloads, which opens its Downloads page.
All Imagery
All Imagery, the first row, mosaics the newest capture of every area into one layer and is on by default.
- RGB layers only, so elevation-only captures are not in it.
- Where captures overlap, the newest start date is on top.
- It follows the project, date and box filters, but not the area name search.
- It cannot be used in Compare.
Filter the Data Catalog
| Filter | How it works |
|---|---|
| Area name | Search areas... matches any part of the name. |
| Date range | The timeline at the bottom of the map. A capture matches by the day it started, inclusive. |
| Bounding box | The box button on the map, then drag. Matches where delivered layers have data in the box, not the area as ordered. |
There is no filter by order, area group, product or layer type.
Use the timeline
- Drag to select a range, scroll to zoom, or choose a preset such as Last 30 days.
- The calendar marks days with captures.
- Click a day to list its captures. Show only this day narrows to it; Include widens the range to a day outside it.
Compare two layers
Select Compare, then click two captures (or expand one and pick a layer) to set A and B. Both sides can come from the same capture, such as RGB against DTM. Drag the divider to swipe.
Share a view
The address bar holds the project, map position, filters, visible layers and compare pair, so copy it to share the exact view. The recipient sees only what their own projects allow.
Connect to GIS
Connect to GIS gives a WMTS address for QGIS or ArcGIS Pro. It appears only when Terrabit has enabled map tiles for your workspace.
| Row | Option | Address covers |
|---|---|---|
| All Imagery | This project | Every capture in the selected project |
| All Imagery | Every project your key covers | Every capture in every project your API key covers |
| Area | This area | Every capture over the area (needs a raster layer) |
| Capture | This capture | Every layer of the capture (needs a raster layer) |
- Open the row's menu and select Connect to GIS.
- Paste the address into your GIS as a WMTS connection.
- Sign in with an API key with the
tiles:readscope that covers the project. The key, not the address, decides which layers open.
The address ignores the page's date and box filters, so new deliveries appear automatically. A document lists a MOSAIC - <type> layer per type first, then one layer per capture, up to the newest 250 captures. Vector layers are never listed. Key requests are metered: see API keys and Tiles API metering.
