Viewing Your Data

This guide explains how to access, view and download your satellite imagery and other deliverables in Albatross.

Understanding Deliverables and Assets

Deliverables

A deliverable represents a specific imagery product you ordered. Each deliverable:

  • Is associated with an area
  • Has a status tracking its progress
  • Contains one or more assets when delivered

Assets

Assets are the actual files delivered to you:

  • Raw Data - Original imagery files
  • COG - Cloud Optimized GeoTIFF for fast viewing
  • Reports - Quality and metadata reports
  • Other - Additional supporting files or custom files required

Tracking Deliverable Status

Deliverable Statuses

PendingWaiting to be scheduled for processing
PlannedScheduled for acquisition/processing
TaskingSatellite capture in progress (for tasking orders)
In ProgressData is being processed
DeliveredFiles are ready for download
CancelledDeliverable was cancelled

Monitoring Progress

  1. Navigate to Orders
  2. Open your order
  3. View the deliverables list showing:
    • Each deliverable's area
    • Current status
    • Progress indicators

Map View

The order detail page includes a map showing:

  • All deliverable areas
  • Color-coded by status/key
  • Click an area to see deliverable details

Accessing Delivered Data

When a deliverable status changes to Delivered:

Viewing Assets

  1. Open the order containing the deliverable
  2. Open the preferred deliverable details
  3. View the list of available assets

Asset Information

For each asset, you can see:

  • File name
  • File type (Raw Data, COG, Report, etc.)
  • File size
  • Upload date

Downloading Files

Downloading Individual Files

  1. Find the asset you want to download
  2. Click the Download button or link
  3. The file will download to your computer

Downloading Multiple Files

For orders with many assets:

  1. Select the deliverables or assets you want
  2. Click Download Selected or Download All
  3. Files may be bundled into a ZIP archive
tip

Large files may be split into multiple parts. Ensure you download all parts for complete data.

Viewing Data on the Map

In Albatross

When viewing an order:

  • The map shows deliverable areas
  • Delivered data may be viewable as a preview layer
  • Toggle layers to compare areas

Using Downloaded Files

Downloaded imagery can be opened in:

  • GIS Software - QGIS, ArcGIS, etc.
  • Image Viewers - For standard formats
  • Specialized Tools - For specific data types

Data Formats

The format of your delivered data depends on your order configuration.

Common Formats

Data Format Configuration

Your workspace administrator configures available data formats:

  • Standard formats may be available by default
  • Custom formats can be configured for specific needs
  • Select your preferred format when creating orders

Order History

Viewing Past Orders

  1. Navigate to Orders
  2. Use status filters to find completed orders
  3. Click an order to view its details and deliverables

Accessing Historical Data

Deliverables from completed orders remain accessible:

  • Files are available for re-download
  • View the original order details
  • Reference for future orders

Data Quality

Checking Delivery Quality

Review delivered data for:

  • Coverage - Does it cover your entire area?
  • Cloud Cover - Is it within acceptable limits?
  • Resolution - Does it meet your requirements?
  • Timing - Is the capture date appropriate?

Quality Reports

Some deliveries include quality reports showing:

  • Acquisition metadata
  • Processing parameters
  • Quality metrics

Notifications

Delivery Notifications

Albatross can notify you when:

  • Deliverables change status
  • Data is ready for download
  • Orders are completed

Checking Notifications

  1. Look for notification indicators in the interface
  2. Check your email for delivery notifications
  3. Review the Orders page for status updates

Best Practices

Organizing Downloads

  • Create folders for each order or project
  • Use consistent naming conventions
  • Keep original files for reference

Data Management

  • Verify file integrity after download
  • Back up important deliveries
  • Document what each file contains

Monitoring Deliveries

  • Check order status regularly
  • Set up notifications if available
  • Follow up on delayed deliverables

Troubleshooting

Can't Download Files

  • Check your internet connection
  • Try a different browser
  • Clear browser cache
  • Contact support if issue persists

Missing Deliverables

  • Verify the order includes the expected deliverables
  • Check if all deliverables have "Delivered" status
  • Some deliverables may still be processing

File Won't Open

  • Ensure you have appropriate software installed
  • Check if the file downloaded completely
  • Verify the file format matches your software

Data Quality Issues

  • Review the quality report if available
  • Compare against your order specifications
